Yet another lovely time at Colton Court Village in McLaren Vale last Sunday afternoon; along with strong singing of Rudolf the red nosed reindeer & other Christmas favourites, the residents really belted out “Get me to the church on time”, “Life is a cabaret”

C&V played for Anne Marie’s 21st party the other week & what a fantastic time everyone had; the meal supplied to guests and the band was very delicious.... I can recommend Balyana Catering.                        We had 3 flutes, 3 clarinets, 2 altos, 1 tenor, 4 trumpets, 2 tenor horns, 1 eupho, 1 trom, 1 tuba, keyboard & drums so it was a perfect balance for a party

Great work at practices everyone.. few more tricky pieces tackled, good ensemble playing and a bass clarinet player... congtrats all :-)

Hi there.... “Rasdus” that’s me and me mate “Skiddles” are having some little adventures. He’s an awesome piano player with a broken leg; see if you can find him on the website... I see he is back on the piano each day now. Gee we had a ball at the 21st... I sat on the drums most of the night and most of the “critters” came along.... we now have a cute bat called “Cricket”... but she is very shy

Anzac Day is supported by hundreds of SA musicians who are grateful for the sacrifices made for our freedom

We’ve had a great  12 months on the Fleurieu... and there’s more enjoyment for players and audiences to come

C & V 1st Birthday cake

Very nice cake... I licked the box out after... and they didn’t know I was missing... for 2 weeks... hee hee

St Patrick’s Day for the Coast & Vines was really special as it launched a “Celtic” ensemble at the Village Life gig; young Kacey performed 2 of his own stunning compositions with such finesse backed by some of the “Wanna bees” of local folk fame

Plus some tears and goose bumps were experienced as Bronny played a beautiful rendition of Danny Boy and the residents broke into instant song... this is so precious for players as well as audiences we share our music making with.  Heather’s mum loved the band and wants us to come back later in the year...t’will be a pleasure Gwen

Jean's 80th... Let's party!!!
C & V Jean's 80th Band 1

We had a fabulous time at the Aussie Inn for Jean + Lilly’s 80th Birthdays.     Everyone was really pleased to play as Jean has been a keen encourager of the Club since it started a year ago- and she is so proud of her Grandson Kacey (who just this week, won a scholarship to Aberfoyle Park High next year)                                                                                      Kacey’s brother Dusty (from “Granny Flat”) played a cool guitar version of “Blue Moon” and Rachel sang “Somewhere over the rainbow” for Jean. The whole afternoon was so precious with family coming from all over Australia for the occasion and we had a relaxed time; we welcome Brendan on Tenor Horn and Jack on Trumpet

“It’s been a fabulous start to the year for the Coast & Vines Music Club with new aspects  being tried out with success. Big “Congratulations” to all the players and families for making the Club so much fun in the 1st year. Sorry if you missed us the other week as we played festive and popular music for Danny + Irene’s fascinating house lights display...

The hampers for the Salvos were huge and have been delivered. Thanks to all who gave generously for a worthy cause.

If you wish to donate a  food item or 2, or a cash donation, may we encourage you to drop into either the Salvos near you, or Anglicare or any charitable organization which supports people in need... that’s what Christmas is really all about... be a good Samaritan this Christmas :-)

How lovely was that at Colton Court on Sunday morning?

Cheryl arranged a beaut Christmas concert opportunity for several of the residents and we all had such a friendly time...

Ron was the life of the party again with his jiving to the  Limbo Rock, I wanna hold your hand and he encouraged the folk to sing up for the carols

The other Friday night was a wonderful night with the Coast & Vines Music Club having a  BBQ then having the privilege of playing for the switching on of Danny & Irenes House Christmas Lights at Sandpiper Tce Hallett Cove; off Marine Ave)

Irene & Danny won the Channel 7 ETSA award a couple of years ago, so their home-crafted special features are remarkable.... a sleeping Santa being rocked in his hammock by 2 elves, a merry go round, plus a life size Santa checking out the reindeers &  sleigh on the roof top.

The whole street came along to enjoy the selection of festive music including, Jingle Bell Rock, Frosty the Snowman, Let it snow... (and with the weather patterns lately... it could snow!!!)

Traditional carols including Hark the Herald Angels, O Come all ye faithful, and a beautiful rendition of Silent Night were part of the casual program.... people really were encompassed by a lovely atmosphere of goodwill.

We are gathering a large hamper of nonperishable food goodies to donate to the Salvation Army to distribute to needy families at Christmas time. Anyone wanting to contribute can contact us via our e-mail address on the CONTACT US page or phone Sonia on 0424 505 374

A few Saturdays ago, Coast & Vines assisted with “Carols on the Hillside” along with Southern Vales Christian College junior classes at the STABLES Church: It was a family event raising funds for the Calvary Children’s Home on Andaman Island off the Burman Coast.

The setting was a newly constructed amphitheatre on the hillside, carpet everywhere, a well lit stage and band area and a huge real Christmas tree.

A very big effort by many people had gone into lots of things for this beautiful evening; congrats to the Stables Church team in particular.

The Blackwood Pageant was a huge event with over 70    floats/items.  Well done to Mitcham Brass Band, Strathalbyn Concert Band, Unley Concert Band and the various school bands who helped bring in a traditional parade to a very large district crowd

The other Sunday we  played at the Lions Old Reynella Village Fair and it was a great success... the atmosphere was very positive, lots of people prepared themselves for the big street parade and there were delicious food stalls as well as the athletics races in the afternoon.

The outgoing Mayor; Ray Gilbert and his wife Edith enjoyed the various events as well as the C & V Music Club Band; they have been incredible with their support for the community the last 30 years or so and we certainly wish them all the best in their retirement

The gig for SDWM Hospital at McLaren Vale  ART & CRAFT FAIR the other Saturday & Sunday was great; Coast & Vines played on both days... that was very enjoyable for the players and the audience which was soaking up the fair atmosphere under the shade of the magnificent gums at the back of the Tintara Winery.  Congratulations to the volunteers of the Hospital for a very “classy” fair

We had another wonderful time at Life Care Aldinga last Sunday: our 3rd gig so far.

Residents and a few family members visiting got a real treat with a concert from a live band playing a range of familiar tunes they sang, clapped and tapped along with.

Cathy, on duty was thrilled and said it was really great how we and our music “connected” with many of the residents                                   Well done “Coast & Viners”

The “combo” practices we’ve had at the Vale and Woodend have been great and it is proving  to be very successful to have the 2 venues on a fortnightly basis; especially due to the price of petrol and the busy lives families have these days.

July_August_News

The response and interest from lots of community groups has been wonderful and it is extending out to district fairs, large fund raising days in the Reynella and McLaren Vale areas and a couple of schools have been approached to offer free live entertainment for their events.
